The Best Summertime Drift Fishing In A Long Time

July has been hot, but the drift fishing has stolen the show. We are consistently getting into the fish including vermillion snapper, yellow eyes, mangroves and the occasional mutton snapper. On the sportfishing, we have been trolling planers with bonita strips for most of our catches including kingfish, bonita and some great black grouper over the wrecks. As we get into August, I'm expected the mahi mahi fishing to be a little better in close. Right now they are pushed way out around 20 miles making hard for us to get to them especially on half day trips. But I'm hoping the SE winds will bring more into our area and shallower.
