Using Radar To Find Frigate Birds and Mahi

Our SeaVee 34' is rigged with radar to help us find birds mainly when tuna fishing in the Bahamas, however today we used it to find birds to put us on some mahi. With a little skill and luck the radar put us on 2 frigate birds. We followed them for about 15 minutes before spotting this mahi. With a quick pitch of a threadfin herring, we got the fish to eat and the fight was on. Using medium tackle spinning gear, a 5/0 circle hook and 30lb flurocaborn we got the fish boat side only to have our mate miss a perfect gaff opportunity on the port side of the bow. Luckily we had another shot soon thereafter and closed the deal. What a beautiful fish under amazing conditions here off Fort Lauderdale. On the way back in we found a palet that had some smaller mahi and a big triple tail on it. For more information visit our website, https://www.ladypamela2.com/
